Treatment Foster Care Job Descriptions
Kairos Treatment Foster Parents (TFPs)
TFPs are trained to provide a high level of structure and supervision within their home to create a therapeutic, trauma-informed environment. TFPs are considered “professional parents” because they provide skills training, school advocacy, homework supervision, and care team input. Each youth has a service plan developed by their professional supports in collaboration with their larger care team, this guides the treatment that the youth receives while in the program. TFPs are a central part of the plan because they provide daily supervision, skill building, and the most consistency for the youth. TFPs build healthy relationships with youth and help them grow from and through the adversities they have faced.
Kairos supports TFPs with:
- Intensive training: Each TFP receives a minimum of 32 hours of Kairos orientation, plus CPR/First Aid, prior to a youth being placed in their home. TFPs also receive 24 hours of additional training annually for recertification.
- Supervision: TFPs receive daily check-ins with the Behavioral Health Coordinator so they can report challenges, celebrate progress, and receive in the moment support and coaching.
- Respite: All youth and families receive 48 hours of respite per month. TFPs are encouraged to utilize Kairos’ paid respite services to help alleviate the demands of supporting a TFC youth 24-7.
- Crisis Support: TFPs have access to 24-7 on-call support from Kairos staff.
- Financial Reimbursement: TFPs receive a monthly stipend to reimburse the cost of supporting their placed youth.
Respite-Only Providers
Kairos Treatment Foster Care (TFC) also supports respite-only providers to care for youth on an as needed basis. Respite is an interval of rest and relief from the daily supervision requirements for the Treatment Foster Parents (TFPs).
This respite period is intended to:
- Give TFPs a break from their day-to-day supervisory duties for a set period where they will be free from any emergency back-up responsibilities.
- Provide the opportunity for youth to develop additional positive relationships with trusted adults.
Kairos Respite-Only Providers receive:
- Financial Reimbursement: A stipend of $64.11 per night that they have a youth in their care.
- Intensive training: Respite-only providers receive a minimum of 32 hours of Kairos orientation, plus CPR/First Aid, prior to providing respite services. Respite-only providers also receive 24 hours of additional training annually for recertification.
